Reclamation is about ownership. It is about taking back what we thought we may have lost & reprocessing it with more care, empathy, & grace. No one asked to live with this condition; it just happened, & when it happened, many of us had to grieve the bodies, experiences, & relationships we once knew. These people, places, & things changed before our eyes without much control, leaving even the strongest person feeling disempowered & hopeless. So, when we created the I reclaim theme, we knew it was important to center any conversation about HS education, advocacy, community, care, & healing on ownership & reclamation. The community now knows that these things were always theirs. They just had to reconnect with them.
